Art Therapy

Art therapy is my favorite therapeutic tool and one of the best ways I help people express their feelings and thoughts that are hard to put into words. I love being an art therapist because creating art encourages us to focus on the present, think ahead, solve problems, and express ourselves. The artwork we create tells a story about our experiences, helps us understand our feelings better, and allows us to view things from a different perspective.

Art Therapy: A Creative Path to healing

Art therapy is a powerful therapeutic approach that uses creative expression—such as painting, drawing, or collage—to help individuals process difficult emotions, reduce stress, and navigate life’s challenges. No artistic experience is required; just a willingness to explore in a safe, supportive environment.

Art therapy is especially beneficial for those who may find it difficult to express their feelings verbally. At SRI, we have a number of certified art therapists who work with children, teens, and adults to support emotional well-being and mental health. Common areas we address include:

  • Anxiety, depression, and stress-related disorders

  • PTSD and trauma recovery

  • Grief and loss

  • Autism spectrum disorder

Art therapy is designed to foster insight, build coping strategies, and allow for meaningful expression through nonverbal methods.
