MUSHIYRAH SHARIF, LMFT

Hi, my name is Mushiyrah and I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist. I earned my master's degree at LaSalle University in 2016. I have been working in the field since 2015. I have worked with  adults, couples, children and families. I  currently see individuals struggling with depression,  anxiety, low self-esteem, relationship challenges, issues surrounding separation and divorce, substance abuse, and trauma. I also have experience working with first responders  (police, fire, corrections, military, and emergency services professionals) struggling with addiction and mental health challenges.

I believe in helping individuals to utilize their strengths and resources.  I utilize a narrative approach which allows clients the space to share their experiences and begin to think about new and more healthier ways to develop their preferred narratives. I also frequently pull from cognitive behavioral, and dialectical behavioral approaches. I also examine the multigenerational patterns that influence and inform clients' thinking and behaviors. In addition, I  consider and explore the impact of racial and gender inequalities with my clients, and the impact this has on their mental health.

Lastly, but most importantly, I never take it lightly that reaching out for help is sometimes the most difficult step. For that reason, I approach each client with empathy and compassion.
